about

A new double single by Stephen Michael featuring every member of his backing band "Yesterday's News"

"Desperate Times" is a reflection of the troubled world we live in

Track Name: Whose Dog Are You?
Inside our minds now there's a war
I'm wonderin' exactly what it is that we're fightin' for
All our hopes and dreams are now a crime
The future's locked up and it's doin' time

So let me ask, when you watch the news
Whose dog are you?
Which master do you serve can we trust your words?
Whose dog are you?

The end is near, the air is thick with fear
We got black men dyin' every day
The commander in chief is a low down thief
The Kremlin's tellin' him what to say
And all those men on the right, the want to fight
To keep our country "strong"
But what they can't understand id they're a tool of the man
Who is rich and plays them just like pawns

The ones with funds are pointin' all the guns
And they're tryin' to keep us all in line
But from what I can see there's blood on the streets
And a woman can barely survive
So take my word we got to end this war
If we want a chance at stayin' alive
For when the people rise up, that's when we fill our cup
And the fascists won't stop us this time
Track Name: Desperate Times
Desperate times, desperate times
We're all livin' in Desperate Times

Don't you find? Don't you find?
We all need a hand, in desperate times

Homeless man, army vet
Been lookin' for a job
Ain't found one yet

Single mom, got three kids
Takes three jobs, still can't keep 'em fed

Country farmer, can't feed his crops
He's all outta water, squeezin' every drop

Young black man, he gets shot,
Just turnin' a corner, by a racist cop

So if you got a helping hand won't you lend it?
This world needs our help, we got to defend it!

Innocent man, he sits in jail
No crime commited, not justice prevails

Burning forests, ain't got our protection
The planet is dyin' our own transgression
